For long - the likes of BBC had the monopoly of making ‘The Story of India’, and open the films with a shot of a dirty railway station.
Thanks to @narendramodi, the Ministry of Education has a special division now, called ‘Indian Knowledge Systems’ - and it is making huge ripples in promoting India’s true history and culture.
Prachyam was chosen to make grand documentaries in the same regard. A dream come true.
‘India’s Contributions to World’ was initially concieved by us as 1 film in the 10 Indic FIlms series - but eventually we figured that it is impossible to compress all that in 1 film. And hence, ‘The Gifts of India’ initiative was born - a parallel project, encompassing India’s contributions to world.
IKS and Prachyam joined forces - and we started on this long discussed project.
The first film is a journey into the Knowledge Systems of Southern India. Titled ‘Eternal Civilisation’, it is about the meta-strcuture of all prosperity - the knowledge of handling knowledge itself.
India was prosperous because we treated knowledge not like an industrial assembly line, but like a thoughtful open architecture of sharing life wisdom. Nurtured in a Guru-Shishya ecosystem, equipped with reverence for knowledge, whatever our ancestors touched - turned into gold.
With the impact of colonization and gradual complacency combined - we lost touch with the rebellious, exploratory spirit that the chiesel weilders of Hoysaleswar and Brihadisvara had. They dared to think of projects that would take generations to complete - and delivered them beyond expectations.
If Bharat has to become an iota of what it initially was - the foremost need is to work on the meta-structure of all knowledge - the knowledge of managing and transmitting correct knowledge itself.
‘Eternal Civlisation’ - a 30 minute state-of-art documentary - will be released on 28th May - for Free - on PrachyamTV.
Along with it we will have Behind the Scenes Bonus Content (Premium) and every week post then, PrachyamTV will release original Titles related to Indology and Indian Knowledge Systems.
We have been at this for a long time. This is not Shorts and Reels. This is classical documentary work. Grinding in the sun type. Glad that finally it's coming out.
