A Time For Authentic Narratives
For decades, many members of our diaspora have expressed concern about what they
perceive as oversimplified or negative portrayals of our Dharma in segments of Western
academia, media, and public discourse.
Bharatiya civilisation and its contributions to the
world have often been reduced to stereotypes - portrayed as regressive, patriarchal, or
defined merely by caste, cows, and curry - while its profound contributions to philosophy,
mathematics, science, medicine, spirituality, literature, and culture have largely been
overlooked.
More recently, debates surrounding the Swāstika - an ancient and sacred symbol across all
Sanatan Dharmas that has been wrongly conflated with the Hakenkreuz, the symbol
appropriated and misused by the Nazis in the 20th century - have further intensified
concerns within our Dharmic communities worldwide. These developments have
strengthened calls for greater unity across the Dharmic diaspora, encouraging organised
community dialogue, scholarly engagement, and the creation of compelling films,
documentaries, digital media, and public discourse that present informed perspectives on
our Dharma & civilisation while addressing prejudice against us.
Many advocates have also called for broader recognition and understanding of the term
"Hinduphobia" in international discourse.
